Jesus Meets People in Doubt Scripture Examples: Peter — Jesus reached out (Matt. 14:31) Thomas — Jesus gave proof (John 20:27) Disciples — Jesus sent them anyway (Matt. 28:17–19) John the Baptist — Jesus reassured (Matt. 11:4–5) Martha — Jesus reminded her of His power (John 11:21–25) Father of the boy — Jesus strengthened faith (Mark 9:24–25) Discussion: What stands out to you in the way Jesus responds to doubt? If Jesus has grace for doubts, how should we treat people struggling with theirs? 3. Why Do You Doubt? Scripture: Mark 9:24 — “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” Common Reasons: Spiritual questions we can’t answer Pain and suffering we can’t reconcile Hurt by other Christians Discussion: Which of these reasons do you most relate to? How can processing doubt (instead of panicking) strengthen faith? 4. Deconstruction & Rebuilding Faith Scripture: Matthew 5:38–39 — “You have heard it said… But I tell you…” Discussion: How is Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 5 an example of healthy deconstruction? How can letting go of wrong beliefs help us rebuild on what is true? 5. Peter’s Restoration Scripture: John 21:15–17 — Jesus restores Peter after denial. Discussion: Why do you think Jesus chose Peter, who doubted and failed, to preach at Pentecost? What does Peter’s story teach us about how God uses imperfect people? Takeaway Truths Your doubts don’t disqualify your faith. Doubt isn’t the enemy of faith. Doubt can be a pathway to deeper, more meaningful faith.
